Alvin Allen Waters

on January 24, 1941 to Ralph and

Cora Waters, Alvin was one of

eight children. The family moved

to Silverton Oregon in 1943 and

later settled in Macleay Oregon.

Alvin and his brother George

worked with their Dad at the

Macleay landfill and also on the

family farm. One of Alvin’s first

loves was his horse Stockins, you

could always find him and his best

friend, Joe Smith riding their horses. Alvin attended and

graduated from Cascade High School in 1959, where his

next love was baseball. He started his career driving and

working for Cherry Hill Orchards and one summer day in

1960, he met and fell in love with Sharon Woock. Alvin

and Sharon were married May 2, 1963 and had two sons.

Richard (Rick) and Kevin. Alvin joined the Army Reserves

and drove truck for John Biggs Alvin continued his career

working for North Santiam Plywood for 28 years until

the mil/closure and went on to work for Freres Lumber

Company until his retirement in 2010. Alvin’s joys in life

were playing men’s slow pitch softball and other sports

with his sons, family and friends, going to the car races

with his wife and enjoying their grandchildren, Tyler

and Danielle and great grandson, Tristan….he felt truly

blessed! Alvin’s dream in life was to get in the ring and go

rounds with Muhammad Ali! Alvin was a very generous

man to all, a great provider and hard worker and had a

great sense of humor! One of his favorite sayings was

“That’s pretty nice” We all love you and will miss your

smile... Alvin is preceded in death by his Father, Mother

and Siblings: Marilyn, Lucille, Kay, Shirley and Gayle. Alvin

is survived by his wife, Sharon, their two sons, Richard

(Rick) and Kevin, their grandchildren, Tyler and Danielle,

great grandson, Tristan. Siblings: George and Toy. In lieu

of flowers, please make a donation to the Hemophiliac

Foundation.

There will be a Graveside service at Stipp Cemetery

in Salem, Oregon at 1pm on Saturday September 7th.

There will be a reception following held at the Macleay

Inn. Arrangements made by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen
