Arline Esther Buechner

Arline was born in Clarissa, Minnesota to Beatrice and Arthur Mastrud: She was the 4th of 10 children (oldest daughter). The family moved to Bend, Oregon in 1949, where she eventually met and married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) H Buechner.

Arline and Bob set up their first home in Bend where they had 3 daughters. The young family moved to Sparks, NV in 1965 for Bob’s work, then returned to Bend in 1967 where their first son was born. The family of 6 moved to Salem in 1968. In 1977 another son was born. Also in 1977, Shelby Johnson came to visit one of the daughters and became part of the family, forever the son/brother.

Throughout their lives, Arline and Bob bought and flipped many houses in the area,

Bob being a contractor for most of his life. Arline waited tables on occasion or went to work with her husband when the extra help was needed. She loved to cook/bake, sew and garden in addition to being a mom and wife.

Arline was a very thoughtful person, cared about everyone she met – never turned away a stray whether it had 4 legs or just 2. Growing up, the children all knew if a friend needed a place to stay or a hot meal, Arline’s house was the place to go.

Arline is preceded in death by her husband Bob (2008), son Shelby (2025), grandson Jeremy (1987), her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her daughters: Kathleen Lloyd (Scott), Donna Davidson (Dave), Janet Buechner (Carlos), and sons Robert A Buechner (Sherry) and Matthew Buechner (Kara), daughter-in-law Robin Johnson, a step daughter, 20 grandchildren and 27 great grandkids, 1 sister and 4 brothers. Arline was a member of West Hills Baptist Church.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 19 @ 14079 Triumph Rd SE, Sublimity, Oregon from 1-3:30pm. The event is potluck style (meat will be provided), please bring your favorite dish to share. Please RSVP to [email protected].
