Born on January 8, 1928 in Baker Oregon, two parents Frank Toney and Juanita Toney (Valentine).
She was one of 11 children and sister of James Toney, Joan Flickinger, Pansy Kahler, Violet Miller, Edith Seay, Beulah Boyer, Melvin Toney, Frank Toney, Mildred Toney and Wilma Toney.
Bernice is most importantly the loving wife of Troy Freitag, To whom she had been married for 64 happy years, she also was mother of Linda Bishop Freitag and Stan Freitag.
Loving Grandmother to Jack Freitag, Ruby Freitag, Crystal Stephens and Cody Bishop.
Bernice was also the proud Great Grandmother of Trinity Stephens and Dominic Stephens.
Bernice started her life out as a farm girl, and also worked briefly as a key punch operator and a cannery worker dealing with fruits and vegetables.
In later years after she met her true love Troy at a local dance, she was married and put all of her loving focus taking care of her husband, children, and family farm. Even though she was a farm girl through and through… Nothing was more important to her than her family.
Bernice was also a student of history and politics and enjoyed current events, was a big fan of country music and also enjoyed Reno, Nevada and long drives with her husband and kids.
Though she spent most of her life with a crippling form of arthritis, it never diminished her warm, loving and generous nature, and she would do anything for her family with a selfless and unconditional passion that was absolutely beautiful to behold…
She will always be in our hearts and in our minds… A loving and eternal testimony to one of the greatest mothers who ever lived.
