Beverley Faulkner, 87, of Salem, Oregon passed away on July 22, 2024, in Salem, Oregon. She was born in Australia to loving parents Ernest and Doris. She attended Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College Bentleigh in Melbourne, where she was proud to be selected as “class president” (College Captain, 1954). Afterwards, she pursued a career in physiotherapy, receiving her certificate in 1959.
She loved family, friends, and travel. She met her first husband, Darrell, in New Zealand while she was on a working holiday and he was stationed there with the U.S. Navy. They married in 1961 and lived in Little Rock and San Francisco before settling in Portland. Not wanting to wait for retirement, they took a year off to tour Europe before starting their family. They later moved to Salem. After the passing of her first husband, she married Ralph Faulkner. They enjoyed numerous trips around the country, visiting friends and family.
She was always an active member of both her church and community, attending both St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Milwaukee, Oregon and First United Methodist Church of Salem. At any given time, she could be found volunteering at her children’s schools, helping to lead a Cub Scout den, coordinating liturgists for weekly church services, hosting game nights for coworkers, working with the Marion County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, working as a Stephen Minister, volunteering with Willson House United Methodist Retirement Center, among many others. In addition, she was also a member of the Salem Bridge Club.
Careerwise, she worked as a physical therapist while living in both Portland and Salem. While in Salem, she worked both at Marion County Home Health Department and at Salem Hospital Regional Rehabilitation Center, retiring in 1999.
Beverley is survived by her children Derek Maurer and Craig (Stacie) Maurer; stepdaughter Sandra Faulkner; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Patricia Spencer; niece Kim Edwards, nephew Richard (Sharee) Edwards and niece Jan Edwards.
She is pre-deceased by her first husband Darrell Maurer, second husband Ralph Faulkner, stepdaughter Diane Haddad, and stepson Lamar Faulkner.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on August 10th at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Salem. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donation to the American Cancer Society or to an organization of your choosing.
