Carol Kaye Wuerch born April 27, 1950 in Salem, OR to Ed and Kay Wuerch, went home to be with her Lord on March 31, 2026 after an in-home accident and a brief stay at Salem Hospital.
Carol attended West Salem Elementary, Walker Junior High and then graduated from South Salem High in 1968. Carol earned her B.S. in Education from Oregon College of Education (now Western Oregon University) in 1972. She completed her M.S. there in 1976. Carol started teaching kindergarten at Colton Elementary in 1972 and taught there for 30 years until she retired.
Carol formerly attended West Salem Baptist Church where she sang alto in the church choir and led the AWANA program. She also played accompaniments on the piano. Later she joined Salem First Baptist Church where she played in the bell choir and sang in the church choir until she was no longer physically able to attend church. During the last several years of her life she hosted a women’s Bible study in her home on Tuesday mornings.
Even though she was homebound, Carol loved brightening the neighborhood with seasonal outdoor displays and making gift baskets for the local kids on special occasions. She also made beautiful cards to be sent to other church members throughout the year who were homebound.
Carol is survived by her brother Stephen Wuerch of Salem, cousin Edith Wuerch of Dallas and various cousins outside Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Because of her brother’s current health issues, there will be no memorial service at this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in her memory to Salem First Baptist Church, 395 Marion St NE, Salem, OR 97301.
Interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
