She attended Kenton and Fernwood elementary schools, and graduated from Grant High School, all in Portland, and attended a few college classes. As a young adult, she moved to Salem, OR, and loved it so much, she stayed in that area for the rest of her life. She worked as a stocker for a non-profit, where she met her future husband, William H. Snyder.
Cathy maintained a life-long adoration of cats, with her dear Smokie and Shadow being remembered in her daily stories. She especially loved doing needlepoint, which she learned from her beloved grandmother, and enjoyed a variety of handicrafts and painting, as well as baking cookies and cakes. She also loved dressing up, especially if the occasion called for a hat. Her happiness and enthusiasm were contagious, and she was a delight to all who knew her.
Cathy was pre-deceased by her father, Charles Henry Etter, mother, Barbara Jean (Freitag) Sims, and husband, William H. (Bill) Snyder. She is survived by her cousins, Karen Kottler (Marc), Linda Ribail (Rick), Susan LaClair, and Nancy Dexter (Chris), an uncle, Henry G. (Bud) Freitag, and her dear friend, Vi Conley.
Remembrances in Cathy’s name may be made to any Humane Society or Cat Shelter, in honor of the cats and kittens she loved so dearly.
