

Born in Rapid City, South Dakota to Claymon and Gladys Larson, David moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon with his family in 1942. David graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1954 and was attending Oregon State University when he was drafted into the United States Army in 1958. Following his honorable discharge in 1960, he married Elda Dal Broi, and they moved to Eugene where they both attended the University of Oregon.
In 1961, David began his work career with Commercial Credit Corporation that took him and his family from Eugene to Seattle to Spokane and finally to Salem. In Salem, David began working in the credit union industry and managed both Oregon Employees Federal Credit Union and IBEW Cascade Federal Credit Union before retiring in 1999.
As a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, he volunteered with Table of Plenty Food Share Program and worked on several church-sponsored habitat for Humanity projects. As an avid outdoorsman and hunter, he was a Life Member of Four Corners Rod and Gun Club where he volunteered countless hours at their annual Sight-In-Service. Over several decades he helped thousands of mid-Willamette Valley residents have safe and successful hunts.
David is survived by his wife of 64 years Elda, son Mark Larson and his wife Kim of Olalla, Washington, daughter-in-law Staci Larson of Wilsonville, Oregon, grandson Daniel Larson and his fiancé Jennifer Benson of Wilsonville, Oregon, granddaughter Sarah Thom and her husband Patrick of Wilsonville, Oregon. Other survivors include his sister Carol Eberlein and her husband Alan of Klamath Falls, OR, his sister-in-law Frances Owens and her husband Richard of Annandale, VA, nephews Terry Eberlein of Eugene, OR, John-Anthony Owens of Seattle, WA, Matthew Owens of Cumberland, ME, and niece Kristi Parks of Eugene, OR. He was preceded in death by his eldest son Robert in 2019.
A Funeral Mass will be held for David at 11:00AM on June 17th, 2025 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Salem, OR. Private interment with military honors will be held at a later date at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR. Contributions in David’s name may be directed to Queen of Peace Table of Plenty, Salem Habitat for Humanity, or Four Corners Rod and gun Club Colonel Allison junior rifle program.
