Harold Leroy Hayes, 84, of Salem passed away on June 17, 2017 in Portland.He was born in Hebron, Nebraska, on August 17, 1932. Harold graduated from Chester High School and also attended 1 1/2 years of college. He married Doris Mae Flessner on April 16, 1953, in Amarillo Texas.Harold had a career in aircraft Maintenance for the Air Force, later Boeing, Cessna; he was a partner with Eagle Aircraft services in Hillsboro, and he taught aircraft mechanics at Portland Community College. He then owned his own aircraft maintenance business in Independence. Harold had a passion for aviation and airplanes.He is survived by his wife, Doris; and son, Harlan Hayes.A viewing will be held on Saturday, July 1, from 1-3pm at Howell, Edwards, Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors.
