From 2001 to 2003 we traveled in our motor home from Jacksonville,  Florida. We stayed in Salem for 9 months. While we were there,  we met Charlie and Mardean at the church we were attending,  and made a lasting friendship.  I will never forget the kindness and love shown to us as they took us in and made us a part of their family.  Thank you isn't enough.  I still live you both 22 years later. Wish I could be there with you. All my love. -Nina

One hosted morning coffee with ODOT Traffic Engineering retirees.

Horace King, friends know him as Charlie, has been one of my best friends for many years.  Throughout my career with ODOT's Traffic Engineering Section, I had the pleasure of knowing Horace, one of the finest people I will ever know.  Our daily walks were filled with great conversation on every topic you can imagine.  Horace's careers with ODOT saved Oregonians millions of dollars and made Oregon a safer place to live.  I will miss you greatly!
