After a brief battle with leukemia, on May 19, 2022, John Anthony Cote, 73, passed peacefully with his family at his side. John was born April 4, 1949, in El Segundo, Ca. to John Raymond Cote and Jacqueline Zoe Cote. He attended El Segundo HS, served 4 years in the USAF including a tour in Vietnam and attended El Camino CC.
John married Susan Curnow on Sept 2, 1972 and they moved to Salem, Oregon in 1974. He worked as a machinist, programmer and salesman for several machine shops, primarily Hanard Machine, for over 40 years. John loved hunting, fishing, poker and pickleball and the many friends he met along the way.
John is survived by his wife Susan, daughters Nicole Cote and Christel Cochell, sister Carmen Stewert, nieces and nephew and honorary children Arwen and David Rhodes and Travis Cochell. John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Brian John Cote. John will always be remembered as a loving husband and father and “One of the good ones”.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his honor can be made to a charity of your choice. Serving the family is Howell-Edwards-Doerksen.
A celebration of life for John will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 1:00 PM at The Salem Elks Lodge, 2336 Turner Road, Salem, Oregon.
