Jack Merriam passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday morning, October 31, 2011 in Salem, Oregon. Jack was born to Phil and Dorothy Merriam on September 9, 1931, with one surviving brother Bill Merriam.
Jack was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cared deeply about his family; he had many good friends that golfed and played pool with Jack. As a life time member of the Elks & Eagles, Jack enjoyed gathering with friends and family.
Jack's passion was to travel, take scenic photography of old barns, read books, and stay in tune with government and history related issues. I think Jack would have found it interesting to know he was the 2,096,108,015th child to be born on this planet of now 7 Billion.
Jack's marriage to Connie of 33 years leaves between them nine children (Chuck, Joel, Laurie, Tracy, Diana, Tina, Debra, Robin, and Vince), 12 Grandchildren and 6 great-grandkids.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, and granddaughter Kendra, and will greatly be missed by Connie, family, friends and all who knew Jack. It was Jack's wish to not have fuss over him, but to continue on with daily routine and just have the good memories to cherish!
Jack will be cremated, and there will be a Pot-Luck on Sunday, November 6th, at 3:00pm for all friends and family who wish to attend: Free-Loader Tavern, 501 Lancaster Dr SE, Salem, Oregon; please come join the celebration of life! Arrangements by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Funeral Home, www.HED-FH.com.
