Born: July 22, 1936 in Madison Nebraska, moved to Salem Oregon in 1940 with her family. She
was the youngest of seven. Attended Salem Schools, graduating in 1954, which was the last class
graduating from Salem High School. She kept in contact with her high school classmates often
through monthly luncheons, picnics and card games. She was a Realtor for 18 years. The best
part of her career was finding a home for first time homeowners. She spent many hours as a
volunteer; neighborhood groups, Mission Mill museum as a children’s mentor, and several years as
co-chair of Millstream Knitting Guild. She was an avid knitter of intricate designs and totally
enjoyed sitting at her spinning wheels. She entered and won several ribbons at the State and
County Fairs and was also a fibers judge.
Her husband Don Porter, preceded her in death. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage. She is
survived by daughter and son-in-law Shannon and Neil Hansen of Kent Oregon, daughter and
son-in-law Sharmaine and Herm Haderly of Scappoose, daughter and son-in-law Patti and Bob
Delaney of The Dalles. Grandchildren Anndria McMullin, Craig Whitaker (deceased), Jennifer Ogle
and Chad Haderly. Great-grandchildren Ethan Whitaker, Jacob and Jack McMullin, Avery Ogle and
Matthew Haderly (deceased). Her sister Adella (Dolly) Farrell and brother Ed Wittenberg and many
nieces and nephews.
