Lauren was born on June 6, 1924 in Agra, Kansas to Walter Frederick Underwood and Pearl Ardelia McDermed. He served in the U.S. Navy in both World War II and the Korean War and worked as an Automotive Electrician in his civilian life.
Lauren was a dedicated father to his four children, and a faithful member of the Church of Christ – serving as a deacon and elder for many decades. He loved animals, enjoyed puttering, tinkering and fixing things, and is well-loved and remembered for his teasing sense of humor and insatiable sweet-tooth.
Lauren is survived by his wife of more than 70 years, Gloria Grace (Freeman) Underwood, his sister Vera Martin, his four children and their spouses, Dalene Gardner, Fred and Candy Underwood, Rich and Mikki Underwood, Lonnie and Toni Underwood, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
There will be a private Graveside service for immediate family, followed by a public Memorial service at Church of Christ on Market Street, Friday, August 22 beginning at approximately 2:00pm.
