CANBY - Lucy was born December 16, 1921 in Addison, New York to Loren and Ruby Beers. She was raised with one brother, Clifford and two sisters, Winona and Ruth. A bright student, she graduated from high school at age 16, then attended nursing school at Washington Sanitarium in Baltimore, Maryland, graduating in 1943.
On October 26, 1943, Lucy married a World War II soldier, Lacy C. O’Neal. Lucy and Lacy raised two children, Pat and Doug. Lucy worked for 45 years as a nurse, and upon retiring in 1985, she volunteered for the Red Cross. She enjoyed Arizona winters from 1985 to 2003.
Lucy’s passion was Jesus Christ and the people around her. She loved people and invested her entire life in helping others. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all the lives she touched.
Lucy was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Lacy, brother Clifford Merritt Beers, sisters Winona Krise and Ruth VanSchaick, and son Doug O’Neal. She is survived by daughter Pat (Dan) Ewert of Canby, grandson Tyler Ewert of Coos Bay, and granddaughter Brianna (Jon) Voigt of Milwaukie.
