Matthew Paul Collins was born December 18, 1973 in Goldendale, Washington to Paul A. Collins and Percilla J. Collins. He moved to Salem in his grade school years. He attended North Salem High school where he graduated in 1992. He was a proud Viking and an outstanding player on the North Salem High School football team. He enlisted in the army and was stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia for basic training. He was honorably discharged and returned back to Salem.
Matt became a high-tech precision machinist until his passing. Matt was a ford enthusiast with a collection of ford trucks. He loved spending time in his shop and tinkering on his trucks and other hobbies. There wasn't anything Matt couldn't fix. He had a great love for the outdoors, the Seahawks, spending time with fella's and keeping his Snap-On-Tools shiny and clean. Matt's greatest love of all was his family. His biggest pride and joy was watching his son Casen and his daughter Cole compete in the sports they love. He was a devoted husband and family man. Matt's greatest treasure of all was his true love Sari. They married in September of 2002 and began their wonderful life together.
Matt passed away peacefully in his home on the evening of Saturday, August 19th at the age of 49. He was predeceased by his mother "Perky" who passed away in 2009. He was survived by his wife Sari, his son Casen, and his daughter Cole. Other family members include his father Paul Collins, his sister Darci Holmes and her daughters Molli and Emma. His sister Marci Beebe and her children Kelsie, Ryan and Natalie. His brother in-law's David Holmes, Todd, Trevor, and Regan Smith, their spouses and children and his in-laws Greg Smith and Hugh and Linda Boyanton. His best pals Justyn, Roger, Ryan, Bryon, and Dave. Those who knew Matt, know what a genuine, strong, intelligent, sincere and honorable man he was. Only he knows now if the Sasquatch that he believed in truly exists. We find peace in knowing he is with the Lord in Heaven.
Rest in Peace Matthew Paul Collins! We love you!
Matt’s Memorial Service will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church on Friday, September 8th at 4pm. Any and all who loved or knew Matt are welcome to be there in honor of him.
