

Myron’s mischievous smile and twinkling eye was born May 24, 1923 in Salem, Oregon to Ralph and Areta Harper. He graduated from Woodburn High School with the class of 1942. On January 16, 1949 he married the love of his life, Sarah Jane Orange.
Myron’s caring, loving, honest ways were spent with his family, friends and nature. His passions included farming, gardening, Border Collie dogs and agriculture. He dedicated his spare time to many organizations such as Soil and Water Conservation, Fruitland Community Church, 4-H, FFA, School Board, Marion Co. Soil and Water Conservation Dist, Western Oregon Livestock, Marion County Livestock Assn., Sons of Labish and founding father of the Oregon Sheepdog Society (OSDS). He received the OSU Pioneer of Agriculture in 2006 for his dedication and hard work.
Myron will be joining his father, Ralph Harper; mother, Areta Vesper (Jones); and sister, Rena Ruth Bany; in heaven. His memory will live on through his wife, Jane of Mt. Angel OR; children, Bonnie (Marc) Henny of Brooks OR, Clay (Susan) Post Falls ID, Ann Harper of Lafayette LA, Albert Haertal of Tillamook OR; and 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, brother, Sidney (Blanche) Harper or Prineville OR; sister, Martha Marks of Canby OR.
A Graveside Service will be held at 9 am on September 28 at Pioneer Cemetery in Brooks, Oregon. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11 am at Fruitland Community Church in Salem, Oregon. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the OSU Agricultural Scholarship Fund. Arrangements by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors.
