Terry Royce Talbott was born October 14th, 1937, in Hartford Arkansas to parents Mike Talbott and Lucille Dyer Talbott. Terry passed away on March 16, 2023, twenty years to the day that his father Mike (Pop) passed away.
Terry was the only brother to two younger sisters, Janice Talbott Cribbs and Linda (Micki) Talbott Rogers. He loved, teased, and cared deeply for both his sisters and took his role of big brother seriously. They spent their childhood in Arkansas until Terrys senior year of high school when the family moved to California. Terry and his two sisters graduated from Ventura High school. Terry then enlisted in the Air Force and spent 4 years in the service learning to be an electrician. He traveled overseas and often told stories about his time in Germany and Morocco.
Terry married his first wife Janice Marie Washington in 1961 in Riverside and had his only daughter Lisa Talbott Wafer. Terry and Janice lived in Ventura but divorced when Lisa was four in 1968.
Terry met Frona Lea Ambos and married for a second time in 1971. Frona brought three grown children to the relationship, Ginny Tierney, John Ambos, and Jody Ambos from a previous marriage. They moved to Keizer, Oregon soon after their marriage when Terry transferred while working for Sears as a TV technician. This is where they made their home and they both lived out their days in Keizer.
The loss of Frona to Leukemia in 2004 devastated Terry and he focused his energy into helping his late wife’s daughter Jody, her children, and her grandchildren. Both Jody Ambos in 2010, and John Ambos in 1991 predeceased Terry.
He has left behind his two sisters, Jan, and Micki, from Sacramento and Prineville, his daughter Lisa, and her husband Virgil of Salem. His late wife’s daughter Ginny and her husband Pat in Alaska. His grandchildren, Kelsie and Keegan, step grandchildren Frona, Shawna and Frona’s husband John of Salem. His step great grandchildren, Irik, Trinity and Aidan of Salem.
He enjoyed working in his garden, antiquing, hunting, refinishing antiques, teasing his neighbors and the neighborhood kids with wild tales and nicknames. He was always willing to lend a hand or gossip with his neighbors about the local goings on.
After surviving a cancer diagnosis, himself and a Parkinson’s diagnosis Terry continued with his independent life until a bad fall on June 26, 2022, and COVID. With the support of family, he was able to return home and live out his final 8 months with loving family and neighbors by his side. Terry was well loved by many and has had a lasting impact on all those who have known him. He will be greatly missed by those who are left behind, his family, and his neighbors.
