He settled in Salem in 1960 and worked for the City of Salem until 1979. He then went to work at Norpac Foods where he retired in 2019 at the young age of 82. He was an ardent supporter of Cal Farley's Boys Ranch in Texas. He was a lifetime Electrician and Ham Radio operator.
He is survived by his Brother Duane Kent of Vancouver, WA and his Sister Karen Cox of Tigard, OR. He has three children: Daughter Cheryl Schmitt of Amarillo, TX, Daughter Linda Curtis of Gresham, OR, and his Son Terry Kent of Salem, OR. He has 14 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
