She was born in Spring Valley, Illinois to Harvey and Ivah Burington. The family moved to Minnesota in 1936 and then to Salem in 1944.
Following graduation from Sacred Heart Academy in 1950, Virginia moved to San Francisco, California, and earned her dental assistant certification. She met and married William Keith Johnson in 1954. After her husband’s death in April 1970, she returned with their three children to Salem. Upon her return to Oregon, Virginia worked as a dental assistant for over 20 years. In 1990 she joined Ashton Photo where she worked until her retirement in 2002.
Virginia was an avid reader and loved solving crossword puzzles.
Virginia is survived by her son and daughter and their spouses, Shelby K. (Robin) and Robin J. (Thom); 5 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
