Wayne Emmanuel Bainbridge passed away in Salem, Oregon on September 24, 2020 at the age of 82. He fought a brave and valiant battle with cancer after being diagnosed two months earlier. He is predeceased by his mother, Elma Mowdy, father, Earl Bainbridge and brother, Richard “Dick” Bainbridge.
Wayne is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Toni Roehl (David) and Tara Peterson (Victor) and grandchildren Dustin, Emma, Faith Roehl and Jordan and Bree Peterson (all of Salem, Oregon), his sisters Dottie Syversen and Sandy Cook of Newberg, Oregon, Verna Lombard of Kooskia, Idaho and Betty Aiken of Grangeville, Idaho.
Wayne was born in Boise, Idaho and as a child lived in Idaho, Oregon and Nevada. He joined the National Guard while still in high school then transferred to the Naval Reserves where he traveled the world. After an honorable discharge, he moved to Orofino, Idaho where he had a long 30 year career as the Manager of Engineering Services at Clearwater Valley Hospital. He retired in 1996 and moved to Forest Grove, Oregon where he had a second career as the Plumber for the Hillsboro School District. He finally retired in 2006 and moved to Salem, Oregon to be near both of his daughters and grandchildren. He was the adopted “Grandpa” of many children over the years which brought him joy, especially as he became more housebound.
Wayne was a talented craftsman and enjoyed watching all sports especially football and golf. He was also a fan of old Westerns and traditional George Strait country music. During his younger years, you would find him fishing and camping in the Idaho wilderness. A time for remembrance of his life will be held at a later date.
