Dale Milton Sherlund

Dale was born September 28, 1930 in Brainerd, Minnesota to Gideon Joseph Sherlund and Anna Louis Krueger Sherlund. He left home at the young age of 16 and went to Orville, California to live with his sister Dorthy. Every day he would hang out at the hiring office of Morrison-Knudsen Construction Company, a worldwide heavy construction company headquartered in Boise, Idaho, who had a huge construction project in Orville, California. After several days of seeing Dale at the hiring office on the construction site all day long, day after day, one of the Superintendents said hire that man. This began a career with Morrison-Knudsen Construction Company that would only end many years later when Dale retired from the company as a General Superintendent after 47 years of faithful service.

Dale met and married Ruby Petty from Price, Utah on November 10, 1950 in Los Banos, California. Later divorced, he married Gayla Stacy from Seattle, Washington on June 7, 1994 in San Diego, California.

Dale spent 2 years in the United States Marine Corps, 1952 – 1954, with the 1st Marine Division during the Korean War. He loved the outdoors. He loved gold mining in Alaska with his sons Mick and Rick and grandson Erik. He was an avid hunter and sportsman. He loved the mountains and the desert. Dale is loved and will be deeply missed.

Survivors: Wife Gayla Stacy Sherlund, Camptonville, California. Children: Mick & Debbie Sherlund, S. Jordan, Utah; Rick & Janet Sherlund, New Vernon, New Jersey; Robyn Sailsbury, Nevada City, California. Step children: David, John, and Dan Wallingford. 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren: sister Alta Sherlund Gendron. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers Gideon, Archie, and Kurt; sisters Norma, Marie, and Dorthy.

Services will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 2 PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary located at 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 PM prior to services. For more information please visit www.wasatchlawn.com.
