

Donald N. Rosenblatt died October 9 in Coronado, California two weeks before the 65th anniversary of his marriage to Jackie (Jacqueline Woolf). Don was born June 4, 1922 in Salt Lake City to Morris and Mollie (Burnett) Rosenblatt.Don was one of the "East High School Gang", friendships that lasted a lifetime, and he attended the University of Utah and Stanford University. After serving in the army during WWII, he returned to Salt Lake City to manage the American Foundry ( a part of EIMCO Corp.). He enjoyed being a steel metallurgist and became well known in the industry for being an expert in the processing of steel.He published many technical papers outlining his findings and was invited to technical conferences, in the United States and also in Germany and Holland. Don encouraged others to be interested in steel and he helped organize Utah Chapters of American Society for Metals and Steel Founders Society. He also served as President for the Salt Lake Art Center and served a term as President for the Museum of Natural History.After retiring from EIMCO Corporation, he joined his beloved cousin Barney (Bernard H.) Rosenblatt to form an investment firm, BARDON Associates. Together they explored many opportunities.Don and Jackie enjoyed getting to know the world around them and enjoyed taking many sea going cruises. Don wanted his children to share his love of travel, he even took them to Europe for three months when they were still in grade school. Don was a lifelong member of the Salt Lake Country Club and by actual count, Don and Jackie played more than 95 different golf courses throughout the world. He was also a member of the Alta Club. Later, they also enjoyed time spent at Coronado Shores in Coronado, California. Answering a challenge, Don and Jackie together wrote a mystery novel, "The Curie Conundrum" and were happy to have it accepted for publication. Don is survived by Jackie, son Robert L. and daughter Wendy (William H. Morris, Jr.), grandchildren Dr. Erin Rosenblatt (Ofer Morag), Stephanie Rosenblatt ( Isaac Hoffman), Samuel Rosenblatt, Jenny (Chris Bourassa), Dr. Meggie Morris and Jeffrey Morris, two great grandsons Reeve Bourassa and Zev Morag and predeceased by daughter Nancy. Private gravesite service will be held. Friends are invited to a farewell celebration at the Salt Lake City Country Club after 4pm on Wednesday, November 12th, 2014.
