In the 99th year of his good, long life, our remarkable Dad, Herman Earnest Gygi passed away peacefully at home on August 25th, 2012.

Dad shared a lot of peace, humor, and guidance, and many of those in his life have been touched by his amiable and generous nature, his sharp mind, and loving insights and wit. With his wife and family, he enjoyed his beautiful home, gardens, orchard, fishing, and boating. He so loved telling stories about his 48 years of work as a Switchman/Conductor and B of RT Union chairman on the Union Pacific Railroad. He loved his family, friends, and his life. “He had a good run.”
Herman is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Micky and Paul Maritsas, Elaine and Bud Hamm, and Katherine and Bernie Krause; also by his sister, Sylvia Albertson, and his brother and sister-in-law, George and Beverly Gygi.
