Iris Burkhalter

1917~2013

Iris died on October 6th in Twin Falls ID at the age of 96. Iris was born in Pendennis KS on July 1, 1917 to Walter L Goodman and Elsie Russell Goodman. The family moved to Twin Falls Idaho in 1925. She graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1936. After high school she attended Gooding College in Gooding ID until 1938.

In 1938 she married Leslie Burkhalter. They had two sons Terry and Allan. She belonged to the First Christian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher

In 1954 the family moved to Salt Lake City/ Murray UT. Iris volunteered for the Red Cross and at the Shriner’s Children Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Central Christian Church

After the death of her son Terry, she raised her grand -daughter, Robin until 2009.

Iris was a member of the Granger Christian Church in her later years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie, her sons Terry and Allan, and her brother Lynn Goodman. She is survived by her sister Vera Young of Twin Falls, her grand -daughter Robin Burkhalter , her step-grand daughter Missy VanCampen and 5 nieces and 2 nephews.

She was loved by her family and many friends. We will miss her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Evans and Early Mortuary, 574 East 100 South at 1:00p.m., interment will follow at Murray City Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared with the family and www.evanandearlymortuary.com
