Kenneth Swan Fielden was born August 31, 1926 in St. Petersburg, Florida, to Harry
Lafayette Fielden and Ruby Acklin Fielden. He was one of seven children. After
graduating from high school in 1944, he joined the US Army 82nd Airborne and served
in the Philippines and Japan in the latter stages of WWII. Upon his discharge from the
military he became a Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service until he retired.
In June 1948 he Married Betty May Cline of St. Petersburg and remained devoted to his
bride for 63 years. Together they had three children: Lawrence, Sharon and Michael Carl
(who passed away shortly after birth).
Kenneth is survived by his children: Lawrence (Tracie) Fielden and Sharon (Ed) Mort;
four grand children: Tracy Ann, Richard, Danielle and Christina; 8 great grand children:
Bailey, Noah, Elle, Ryan, Kayla, Emily, Ashley and Ava; his brother Harry (Peggy)
Fielden; His sisters Arlonia Lazzari, Dorothy and brother-in-law Ray and all his nieces
and nephews.
He was an avid baseball fan and was thrilled when his beloved Cardinals won the World
Series. When Ken was younger he played Metro League fast-pitch softball for the Roth
Rangers of St. Petersburg, Florida excelling at Short Stop. In later years, he played
Recreation League fast pitch softball in California with his son Lawrence. When he
retired from playing he enjoyed following the various athletic careers of his children,
grand children and great grand children sometimes as Coach but mostly offering friendly
support and encouragement. One of his greatest enjoyments was to see his great grand
daughter Bailey play in a fast pitch tournament in Park City this last summer.
He joined Freemasonry late in life but was intensely passionate about the Fraternity
and the lessons it taught. While he never held Masonic Office he looked forward to
Masonic gatherings and Masonic discussions until declining health prevented him from
participating.
Kenneth was preceded in death by both parents, his brother Jim, sisters Grace and Ruby
Jean and son Michael Carl.
Kenneth always gave it his best in all he did. He worked hard, played hard, lived hard
but most of all loved Betty, his kids and grandkids with all his heart and soul. Everything
he did, he did his way. Well done thou good and faithful servant.
