She graduated from high school in 1938, and was hired at Montgomery Ward as a typist. When she left after 11 years, she was a private secretary for the corporate Real Estate Manager. She loved family gatherings, playing cards, crossword puzzles, going out to eat, and cooking. In later years, she even wrote her own family cookbook. If something was on her mind, she told you, no filters.
Lorraine lived in Illinois, Arkansas, Virginia, Maine, and finally Utah. She was married to Fred H. Strohacker at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Cicero, Illinois, lived in Cicero and then Bellwood, Illinois with her family, and then retired in 1972 to Hot Springs, Arkansas. After moving to Virginia in 2003, she was a member of the Spotsylvania Presbyterian Church for five years where she helped in the office and was also active in the women's circle. She volunteered at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg for four years. In 2009, Sumner, Maine was her next stop, living with her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bill Glass, and attending the Congregational Church of East Sumner. Then, a more temperate climate called her to Sandy, Utah, with her son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Linda Strohacker. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Salt Lake City and was a dedicated fan of the Utah Jazz.
Her husband, Fred H. Strohacker, brother Delmar Kramer, and sisters Irene Wilson and Valeria Schwetz preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Fred M.
