Marjorie Allred Bacon

Majorie Allred Bacon, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2021, at the age of 94. She was born on October 20, 1926, to Orson Arnold and Veda Spainhower Allred in Eureka, Utah.
Marge loved growing up in the mining town of Eureka and enjoyed the busy life of a small town. She was musically inclined and played the piano and trombone. She graduated as valedictorian of her class from Tintic High School in 1944.
Marge married Marvin Poll Bacon, a friend she had known her entire life, on August 28, 1948. They made their life in the Holladay area of Salt Lake City and purchased a home there that Marge lived in for over 65 years. Marv and Marge had three daughters, Karen, Robyn, and Susan.
Marge was known for her love of learning, travel, and the arts. She particularly enjoyed her volunteer activities, spending several years mentoring girls with the Girl Scouts of America and over 20 years at Morningside Elementary School, working with First and Second Graders and in the Library. She received the Granite School District Volunteer of the Year Award in 2006 for her dedicated efforts.
Marge was known for her sense of humor and keen observation skills. She was unfailingly kind to everyone she met and was always willing to spend time listening to those around her.
Marge was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a deep testimony of Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband Marv and her daughter Susan Baldwin. She is survived by her children, Karen (Joseph) Famiglietti and Robyn (Calvin) Garvin, son-in-law Ken Baldwin, grandchildren Andrew (Heather) Baldwin, Matthew Baldwin, Alayna Baldwin, Alex (Samantha) Garvin, and James T. Garvin, as well as two great-grandchildren, Aidan Baldwin and James A. Garvin.
Graveside funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 11th, at 2:30 pm at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a viewing for friends and family on Monday, May 10th, from 6 to 8 pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be sent to the John A. Moran Eye Center.
