Robert Douglas Farris

Robert Farris, 84 of Gilroy, CA passed away May 16, 2013 after a long battle with cancer with close family members at home by his side. Mr. Farris was born in Salt Lake City, UT on November 13, 1928, son of Robert N. Farris and Katie Marotzke. He graduated from West High School and entered military service in Sept. 1946. He served with the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Div/188th Parachute Infantry Unit in Sendai, Japan. Soon after the war, he graduated from University of Utah. He married Jo Ann Walker in 1950 and began working his career-long position as Vice President - Sales with General Electric for 36 years. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann and three children: Robert E. of Roseville CA, Lisa of Ukiah CA and Amy of Gilroy CA, brother, David and sister, Arden. He is also survived by eight grandchildren. A graveside service will take place at Salt Lake City Cemetery on May 29, 2013 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the SPCA or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
