
SAN ANGELO Alice Faye Youngblood, 88, passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, in Fort Worth, Texas. Mrs. Youngblood was born Jan. 27, 1925, to Spencer Walter and Alice Gertrude (Wheeler) Kitley in Eastland, Texas. She grew up in Troup and Austin where she graduated from Austin High School and The University of Texas with a B.S. in home economics in 1946. While attending U.T., Alice was chosen as a Bluebonnet Belle (the top 100 most beautiful women on campus) three times, winning one year with actor and comedian, Bob Hope, as the judge. Alice married Morrell Glenn Youngblood on April 19, 1946, at the Millington Naval Air Station in Memphis, Tenn., where Glenn was a Naval Air Force flight trainer during World War II. Her husband of 65 years went to be with the Lord on Dec. 6, 2011. Alice and Glenn moved to San Angelo in 1951, where she was a homemaker and a library aid for many years at Reagan Elementary School. She was a member of First Baptist Church and volunteered in several civic organizations including Shannon Auxiliary, San Angelo Country Club Women's Golf Association and the Republican Women of Concho Valley. She was an avid golfer, achieving a hole-in-one. Alice was an excellent seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers Dayton V. Kitley, Bill Kitley; sister Jeanne Moffatt; and daughter-in-law Margie Ann Fant-Youngblood. She is survived by her son, Harvey Youngblood of Fort Worth and his children, Reagan Daniel (Bryan), Travis Youngblood (Allison); daughter Valerie Matthews (Johnny) of San Angelo and their children, Ashley Clark (Eric), Lauren McGowan (Brian), Spencer Matthews; daughter Vicki Reynolds (Richard) of Stephenville and their children, Meghan Reynolds, Jon Reynolds (K'Lynn); daughter Janice Conner (Jeff) and their children, Caroline Conner and Claire Conner; great-grandchildren Travis Weiland, River Reynolds, Hank Youngblood; brother Don Kitley of Austin; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Johnson's Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at First Baptist Church. Interment will be in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Margie's Fund (for prevention of depression) in memory of Alice's daughter-in-law, Margie Fant-Youngblood.
