Alicia ("Alice") Torres

Rosary will be held at 7:00p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00a.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at St. Phillip Catholic Church in Eola. Burial will follow in Mereta-Eola Cemetery.

Alicia was born in Tom Green County and raised in Menard. She was a Menard County library aide and excelled in drawing and painting. She was awarded an art scholarship during high school and graduated from Menard High in 1989.

Alicia moved to Houston in 1994, workingin a management position for over 5 years, then co-owned a carpentry/roofing/deck company for over a decade.During this time, she gave birth to the love of her life, her daughter, “Jackie.”

Alicia and her daughter moved to San Angelo in 2010 and Alicia began work for Walmart. For the last 2 years of her life, Alicia was living in Eola and working for Concho Valley Community Supervising & Corrections Department as a cook in San Angelo. She had been recently promoted to Room Monitor and started the first week in her new position at the time of her passing.

Alicia was a thinker, meticulous, mechanically inclined, and loved working with her hands to build things. She loved music, singing, and most of all she loved people. She always made time to visit family and friends, doing her best to leave no one out. She enjoyed keeping everyone in touch. She will be remembered as a friend and confidant, showing her care and concern for everyone she knew. She always went out of her way to help whenever anyone needed her. She was always there… and she will be sorely missed.

Survivors include her daughter Jacqueline R. Mastroianni of Eola; parents Martha E. and Senon Torres of Menard; grandmother Carmen Alexander of Brownwood; sister Mary E. "Tina" Fuentes of Eola; brother Martin E. Torres of Menard and his son Jonathon Marin of San Angelo; sister Jeannette T. Hiteshew of Austin and her daughters Erin Hiteshew and Morgan Hiteshew of Austin; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is also survived by many dear friends.
