

Bette Ann Duesing (née Saum), fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, died Monday, October 17, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Raphael L. Duesing, Sr.; the adored mother of Philip M., Richard M. (Pamela), Raphael L., Jr. (Claire), Thomas F. (Allison), and Paul J.; and the loving grandmother of Christopher, Caroline Allen, Matthew, Hunter, Anna, Madeline, Thomas, and David Duesing. She was the dearly beloved sister of the late Milo Saum and the late Peggy J. Gates.
Born June 24, 1926, Bette was raised in Webster Groves, MO, by her parents Margaret and Thomas "Pierre" Saum. She attended Nerinx Hall and Maryville College in St. Louis, MO, graduating in the Class of 1947 with a degree in Art History. She and Ralph were married February 7, 1948, in Ferdinand, IN, and resided in St. Louis and Kansas City before relocating permanently in Big Lake, TX, in 1952. She was noble in her service during the war, in raising her family, and in participating in the activities of her parish, St. Margaret of Cortona in Big Lake.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 6 P.M. on Friday, October 21st at St. Margaret, 107 East 1st Street. The Funeral Mass will be at 2 P.M. on Saturday, October 22nd at St. Margaret followed by Graveside Services at Glenrest Cemetery. Reception immediately following at Los Cazadores. Atrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred or donations can be made to St. Margaret of Cortona Catholic Church.
