

Visitation will be held from 4:30 – 6:00 PM Friday, November 11th in Johnson’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 12th at St. Luke United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Clara Belle was born September 26, 1920 to George and Mabel Watson in Barry, Texas. She attended school there and graduated in 1938 as Salutatorian of her high school class. She attended Texas Woman’s University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in library science in 1941.
She was a librarian in Shamrock High School for 1 year, Jr. High librarian in Orange, TX. for 3 years and High School librarian in McCamey for a year. She was also a librarian at Central High School in San Angelo from September, 1965 to June, 1978.
On August 28th, 1946, Clara and Bill Poteet were married in Dallas, Texas. They moved to San Angelo where they have lived for 65 years.
Clara loved doing cross stitch stitchery. She did this hobby for many years for her home and family. She also loved to bake pecan pies for her friends and church luncheons. She is a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and the CIHU Sunday School Class.
Clara is survived by her husband Bill, daughter Barbara Fast and husband John of Littleton, CO.; son Randy Poteet and wife Sally of Farmington, NM; two grandchildren Chrissy Fast of Durango, CO and Jason Fast of Lakewood, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers LeRoy and Calvin.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Meals for the Elderly or a favorite charity.
