

Dan was born Dec. 1, 1931 in Mobile, Alabama and moved to San Angelo at age seven. He married Bettie Jean Wade of San Angelo on Dec. 29, 1960. They were married 55 years and had three sons, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Dan was a member of the Reserves before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1950 to 1954, where he served in Korea with the A Company amphibious unit. He was later transferred to Guam for 18 months before leaving as Sergeant First Class with honorable discharge on May 11, 1965.
After leaving the military, Dan worked as Assistant Store Manager for Goodyear for 12 years. He left Goodyear to work for G.T.E. in Land and Buildings before working up to Area Fleet Mechanic Supervisor out of Brownwood for 20 years. He most recently worked at Wal-Mart for 19 years prior to his death.
Dan is preceded in death by his mother Hazel Hart of San Angelo. He is lovingly survived by his wife Bettie Kennedy; son Steven Roderick Kennedy and wife Tammy and their children Justin (Natalie), Jaelyn, and Jennifer and their grandchildren: Anthony, Lexi, Rylie, and Connor; son Donald Dwayne Kennedy and wife Samantha and their sons Jason Kennedy and Kevin and Devin Dorris; son Michael Dennis Kennedy and his step-children from a previous marriage, Emily Dorris and Christopher (Critter) Dorris; and son., Danny Ray Kennedy; as well as his sister, Jean Gonzalez.
The family would like to give a special thank-you to the staff of Hospice of San Angelo, especially Pam, Becky, JoLisa, and Deanna.
Graveside service is at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Minister Greer Willis presiding over the service.
