

David O. Braden, 90, of Wall died in Shannon Hospital Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 6:40 P.M., in San Angelo. The Wake Service will be 6:00 P.M., Sunday, March 31, 2013 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Deacon Allan Lange officiating. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 1, 2013 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Rev. Chinna Pagidela as celebrant. Interment will follow with Military honors at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.
David was born October 22, 1922 in Olfen, Texas to Felix and Ida Feist Braden. He moved to Mentz, Texas for a short time and then moved to Wall in 1925. He worked the farm land with his 5 brothers and 4 sisters before joining the United States Army Air Corps. He served his country honorably from October 1942 to December 1945 in Wisconsin, Washington, D.C., New Mexico, Illinois, New York, Iceland and San Angelo with the rank of Sergeant E4. David also served as an honor guard for President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s funeral.
He married Delores Pechacek in Rowena at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. They moved to Corpus Christi in 1953. In 1976, he returned to his original home in Wall, and lived there the rest of his life. He married Della Blaschke on October 31, 1980. She preceded him in death April 3, 2012.
David loved playing scrabble with his wife and children. Up until the end, he could beat anyone he played. He loved the Wall Senior Citizens where he played dominos monthly. He and Della enjoyed the Polka Club and Western Club dances for many years. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and the Wall Co-op Men’s Coffee Club. He loved sitting on the patio watching the crops and flowers grow.
Preceding David in death are his wife Della, parents Felix and Ida Braden, brothers, Raymond, Walter, Harvey and Boots, sisters, Rosalee and Christine and a great grandson Braxton Brown. Surviving David are his son, Ronnie Braden and wife Ursula, of Leimen, Germany, his daughters, Sylvia Brown and husband Dan, of Midland, Marlene Landenberger and husband Dan, of Midland, Kim Courtney and husband Michael, of Big Spring, and step daughter, Jo Lynn Rackler, of San Angelo; his Brother Ernest Braden, of Wall; and his Sisters, Mary Ann Pelzel and her husband Calvin, of Wall and MaeDell Slaughter, of Midkiff, TX. Also surviving are his 8 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a very caring niece, Janie Beasley, who always checked in on him.
Pallbearers for the service will be Bart, Chad and Connor Brown, Matt Starr, Kit Hughes, Dick Braden, Chris Moore and Ryan Campbell.
Memorials may be made to the Laura Braden Memorial Scholarship in care of Wall High School.
