Diane was born on October 17, 1942, in Tennessee, as the only child of William James Steele and Janie Lynn (Hicks) Steele, both of whom preceded her in death. Also preceding her were several aunts and uncles and other loved ones. She was particularly close to her husband’s parents, J.V. Frizell, Jr. and Grace (Brown) Frizell of Stamford. TX, both of whom preceded her.
She met David Paul Frizell in Cocoa Beach, FL in 1965 and they were married there on June 18, 1965. During their marriage they lived in Cocoa Beach, FL, Sylmar, CA, Stevenage, England, and San Angelo, TX.
Prior to her medical retirement in 1998, Diane had worked as a legal secretary in California and for the Gossett Harrison law firm in San Angelo. Following her retirement, she underwent a total of 10 spinal surgeries. As a result, she had constant pain and physical limitations until her death. She is now in a better place where there is no pain.
Diane was an accomplished artist and did excellent work in oils and in watercolors. Two of her works are on display in the Shannon Medical Center.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Left to treasure her memory and to mourn her passing are: her husband, David Paul Frizell of San Angelo; Her Daughter Kathryn Jowell, and Husband Maitland, of Northglenn, CO; her sons Mark J. Frizell, and his wife Mellissa, and Jay W. Frizell, and his wife Teresa, both of San Angelo; and a very special stepson, David Paul Frizell, Jr. of Houston, TX.
