Dorothy Mae Burrell Truitt, born November 9, 1932 to Garl and Clara Burrell in Ballinger, Texas, passed from this life into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on September 2, 2012. She was 79 years old.
A Memorial Service in celebration of her life will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 at Grace Temple Baptist Church with Dr. George Cooper officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
Mom was a strong and determined woman who was a proud member of the “Greatest Generation.” She managed her finances brilliantly in spite of her love to shop. She adored buying presents for others. She had a strong conviction regarding loyalty and loved deeply. Mom enjoyed making memories with friends and family. She rarely missed a birthday party or holiday with children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren.
She came to know Jesus as her personal savior in 2000. From that time until her departure from this life she sought the wisdom of Christ. Each personal trial brought her into a deeper understanding of biblical principles.
She is survived by Dalton Truitt, stepfather to Patty Williamson and husband Darrell of Odessa; son Hardy Webb and wife Jeannie of San Angelo; grandchildren: Mikki Marshall of Odessa, Emiley Rieger and husband Jeremy of San Antonio, Kim Teal and husband Shawn of Odessa, Alison and Don West of Denton, John and Julie Schkade of San Angelo, and Jeff Chapman and wife Natalie of Odessa; great-grandchildren: Taylor, Kierstin, Tyler, Bailey, Brylan, Hannah, Caden, Londyn, Aubrey, Dalton and Addyson; sister Jeannie Thigpen and brother Bill Burrell, both of San Angelo; and many cherished nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved much.
The family would like to thank Grace Temple Baptist Church for their many years of love and support of our mom and grandmother. We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to the staff and physicians at Community Hospital for the excellent and compassionate care our mother received in the last days of her earthly struggle.
Many people ministered to mother over the last two years but Era Owens, Ingrid Smith and Donna VanTuinen were truly the hands and feet of Jesus.
