A Celebration of his life will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2012 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Jim Benson officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Edward was born June 6, 1936 in Oswego, New York to Alice Jennings and Harold Mike Jennings. Edward attended Greene High School in Greene, New York. He graduated from said school in June 1954. Shortly after, he joined the Air Force where he spent the next 21 years. He was a veteran of Vietnam.
Edward had two children from a previous marriage, Edward “Bart” Jennings and wife Tonia and Gena Rae Sauls. Edward married Patsy Sue Davis in January 1968. He had two step-children, Debbie Blankenship and husband Rod who lives in Christoval, Texas, and Gene Boudreau and wife Sherry of Ada, Oklahoma.
Edward’s wife Patsy Sue preceded him in death in November 2006. Edward had two sisters, Audrey Beadle and husband Tom of Hibbing, Minnesota and Mona Chapman and husband Burney of Greene, New York. He had 15 grandchildren and at last count, 10 great-grandchildren.
After retiring from the Air Force in 1975, he became a Juvenile Probation Officer for the next 23 years. Edward used to tell his family and friends that we spent too much time on one or two percent of the bad kids and not enough time on the 98 percent that never get into trouble. He loved being a Probation Officer and his last few years he was an officer in six counties. He loved to laugh and pull jokes, and he loved everyone. He loved to fish, to hunt and he loved to bowl.
He used to say that he never spent time enough with his children, but he loved them and never told them enough. He was a family type person that enjoyed being around his relatives. He had several nephews and nieces and loved them all.
He will be missed but will be remembered always. He now is with his wife, parents and relatives laughing and smiling down on us.
