

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26 in Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Bob Budewig and Rev. Randall Wehmeyer officiating. Burial will follow in Miles Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home.
Ellen was born in Tom Green County near Miles, TX, on August 1, 1925, to Emil and Louise (Kiesling) Gallas. She graduated from Miles High School in 1942. She was a homemaker, a caring mother, and a great cook providing family favorites of scalloped potatoes, German chocolate cake, green beans, cinnamon rolls and coffee cake.
Ellen was married to Glyn Elkins at Trinity Lutheran Church in San Angelo on June 24, 1950. Glyn preceded her in death on January 23, 2007. Ellen was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Clinton Gallas, and one sister, Edna Marie Rice.
Survivors include two sons, David Elkins and wife Linda, and Wayne Elkins and wife Malinda, and her daughter Dr. Glenda Byrns and husband Bob; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Ty Elkins; Amanda and Daniel Watson and their son Joseph Wayne; Coley and Amanda Elkins and their children Paige, Landri, and Luke; Jared Elkins; Megan and Andrew Davis and their daughter Riley; and Erin and Adam Cutts and their children Eli, Teagen, and Gavin. Other survivors include siblings Nelda Riddle, Lenora Reid, Amy Dickson, Leroy Gallas, Melvin Gallas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Before Ellen raised her three children she practiced on her siblings Nelda, Melvin, Leroy, Lenora, Amy, Clinton and Edna Marie. Ellen's love for her brothers and sisters lasted throughout her life. Her sisters and brothers provided Ellen ongoing support and love during her progression with Alzheimer's. We cannot adequately express our love and appreciation to you. Your presence helped and comforted us through this journey.
Pallbearers will be Steve Byrns, Clay Riddle, Randall Reid, Gerald Allen Reid, David Penick and Doyle Dickson.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Myrtlewood and Regency House for their compassion and care.
