

Florence Ann Smith, 48, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 25, 2011. The Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Johnson’s Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Mack Roller officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Florence Ann, homemaker, wife and mother was born on August 12, 1963 in Portsmouth, VA to William J. and Annabelle Rowland. She was raised in the Norfolk , VA area and graduated from Deep Creek High School in Chesapeake, VA in 1981. Florence was the youngest of eight children. She met her husband of 28 years, James D. Smith, Sr. in February of 1984. They married on June 12, 1984 and had two children, James D. Smith, Jr. and Jennifer Ann Smith. Florence was a wonderful mother who through her unwavering determination molded her children into good students in school as well as model citizens. In the last two years of her life she became a wonderful photographer of native birds. She was preceded in death by her parents Annabelle in 1986 and William, Sr. in 2009. Florence is survived by her loving family, Husband, James D. Smith, SR., of San Angelo; her children, Jennifer Ann Smith and Andrew Tiedt, of San Angelo, TX., and James D. Smith, Jr., of San Angelo; her Brothers, Wiliam Azor Rowland, of Windsor, VA, William Joseph Rowland, Jr., of Zuni, VA, Stephen Craig Rowland, of Windsor, VA. and Lynwood Rowland, of Portsmouth, VA; her Sisters, Billie Jo Lamb, of Suffolk, VA., Ellen Lesoine, of Windsor, VA., and Effie Long, of Windsor, VA; numerous nieces and nephews and her special friend Sandy Rigdon, of Virginia Beach, VA. The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks and appreciation to Donna Allen, and Dr. Paula Lee at the Duke Regional Cancer Center for all of their loving care and kindness extended to Florence and also to Dr. Allen Hardwick and Felice.
