

Frances Jansa Schwertner of Wall, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed to her heavenly reward on Monday, August 20, 2012 at the age of 97.
A rosary prayer service will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 7 PM at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral Mass in celebration of her life will be officiated by Reverend Chinna Pagidela and Reverend Tom Barley on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 10 AM at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Frances was born to Frank and Mary Zly Jansa on September 16, 1914 in Rowena, Texas. She was the third of four children in this family. She married Alfred Schwertner at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rowena on February 19, 1935. Together they had farmed in Rowena, Miles, Vancourt, Stiles and Wall. He preceded her in death on January 23, 1990.
Her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She highly valued education and was so proud of each and every accomplishment of her family. She was the oldest member of St. Ambrose Church at the time of her death and was a member of St. Helen’s Altar Society for many years. She enjoyed attending the Senior Citizens functions at her church and had been a member of the San Angelo A&M Mothers Club. She especially loved following sports teams at Wall High School and Texas A&M University.
Survivors include her four children, Charles Schwertner and wife Kaye of Abilene, Harvey Schwertner of Boerne, Larry Schwertner and wife Donna of Lake Jackson, and Donna Multer and husband Jerry of Wall. She was blessed with nine grandchildren, Dr. Charles Jeffrey Schwertner and wife Dr. Belinda Schwertner of Georgetown, Janey Schwertner Murray and husband Trey of Edinburg, Justin Schwertner of Paris, Texas, Lisa Schwertner Scott and husband John of Pearland, Brian Schwertner and wife Page of Houston, Scott Schwertner and wife Kristen of Lake Jackson, Keith Schwertner and wife Kristin of Carrollton, Melissa Multer Gunter and husband Trampas of Collierville, Tennessee, Dr. Tracie Multer Davis and husband Dr. Brad Davis of Southlake and step-grandson Jim Johnson of Houston.
Also surviving are nineteen adored great-grandchildren, Carson, Zachary and Matthew Schwertner of Georgetown, Hannah, Quaid and Kenady Murray of Edinburg, Tyler, Lauren and Ian Scott of Pearland, Douglas and Meryl Schwertner of Houston, Meghan and Kate Schwertner of Lake Jackson, Hailey and Conner Schwertner of Carrollton, Trent and Gracen Gunter of Collierville, and Drew and Lily Davis of Southlake. Other survivors include sisters- and brothers-in-law, Melva Schwertner, Lorine Schwertner, C J and Marie Schwertner, Leo Schwertner, Dorothy Rohmfeld, Jerline and Erwin Bartels, Mona and Truett Bryan and many nieces and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband Alfred, her parents and her siblings, Willie Jansa and wife Irene, Charlie Jansa and wife Olga, and Mary Schwertner and husband Elo. Sisters- and brothers-in-law who passed before her were Elizabeth and Elo Jost, Raymond Schwertner, Oskar Schwertner, Willie Mae and Werner Niehues, Bertie Schwertner, Benjamin Schwertner, and Norbert Rohmfeld.
Her family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the many kindnesses of friends and family through the years and is especially appreciative of Ben, Betsy, Kate and Grant Wilde, Daniel Jansa, Leonor Torres, her phone friends, her very caring healthcare professionals, and the staff and residents at Royal Estates and Rio Concho Terrace.
Memorial donations may be sent to St. Helen’s Altar Society at St. Ambrose Church in Wall, West Texas Rehab of San Angelo or a favorite charity.
