Fred Gust 56, of San Angelo, went to be with his Lord and Savior February 20, 2018 at Temple, TX due to a sudden illness. He was born December 6, 1961 to Walter and Betty Gust in El Centro, CA. Fred attended Imperial High School and Imperial Valley College in El Centro, CA. Fred was employed with Moores’ Ranch Trucking in Eldorado, TX. He served his country in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves. However, his life’s passion was serving his Lord as Deacon, Youth Leader, and as a member of the Mission Team at Edmund Blvd Baptist Church. Fred was an avid fisherman, hunter, football and baseball fan, his BBQ was legendary. He touched many lives and enjoyed serving others.
Fred had a sweet, genuine, loving, child-like spirit and was always there for all the little and big stuff in our lives, and everything in between. If you ever came to a Men’s Breakfast at church with Fred you know the only thing that rivaled his love for Jesus was his love for Folgers coffee. We don’t know how we’re all going to pick up the pieces and move forward after this, we are all going to miss every single thing about you. However, we know you are singing with Jesus and that you would expect us to carry on your service for the Lord and your love for life. We love you forever Scarface, FISH ON!!!
Fred is survived by his wife Kyla; daughter Audrey (Jordan) Clark of Grinnell, IA; his cherished grandchildren Christian, Elijiah, and Kaetlyn Clark of Grinnell, IA; Sister Liz Graham of San Diego, CA; Brother Walter Gust of Palm Desert, CA; numerous in laws and outlaws, adored nieces and nephews, way too many fishing and hunting buddies to mention, you know who you are…and we can’t forget his beloved CHICAGO CUBS!
