

Freddie B. Arnold, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at his home in Christoval on September 2, 2011. The only child of M. H. and Lorraine Carter Arnold, Freddie was born in McCamey, Texas on October 4, 1934. He graduated from San Angelo High School in 1953 and then served proudly as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1953 to 1955.
Freddie returned to San Angelo and married Betty Lou Keel on March 29, 1956 and they were blessed with 55 wonderful years together.
Freddie was employed by General Telephone Company for 34 years until his retirement in 1990. He then was employed for 6 years by Grape Creek ISD as a bus aide for special need children. In 2006, he and Betty moved to Christoval so he could be closer to “The Place”, his acreage south of Christoval where he spent many happy hours tending to his animals and enjoying the outdoors.
Freddie was a member of Christoval Baptist Church and of Masonic Lodge #570 in San Angelo and Masonic Lodge #901 in Christoval.
Freddie was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Betty of Christoval, two sons, Freddie B. Arnold, Jr. and wife Nancy of Goldthwaite and Robert K. Arnold of Ozona, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his brother-in-law William Keel and wife Cynthia of San Angelo, and 1 niece, Kristin and husband Col. Larry Cade of San Antonio.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on September 5, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
The family extends special thanks to Girling Home Health Care and Girling Lighthouse Hospice for their compassion and kindness during the last few months of Freddie’s life. Memorials may be made to Meals for the Elderly or Girling Lighthouse Hospice.
