Gary Lee Nelms

Gary Lee Nelms, 54, of San Angelo, passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, in Big Lake, Texas. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Mike Andress of Hospice of San Angelo officiating. Gary was born to John H. and Reba Jo Cantrell Nelms on Jan. 28, 1958, in Brownwood, Texas. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He later worked in construction as a roofer installing sheet metal. Gary had a comforting atmosphere in his last days with family and friends at his side. He was preceded in death by his mother, Reba Jo Nelms. He is survived by his son, Hunter Nelms, of San Angelo; father John H. Nelms of San Angelo; sister Brenda Drgac and husband Larry of Girvin, Texas; brothers Johnny J. Nelms and Mickey Nelms and wife Mary Lynn, all of San Angelo; niece Dayna and Lewis Wade and children Jacob, Hannah and Katie, all of Big Lake, Texas; nephew Corey and Alex Lee and children Kyle, Corey Jr. and Brianna, all of Austin, Texas; nephew Cody and Robbie Nelms and children Vivienne and Scarlett, all of San Angelo; nephew Chris Nelms of San Angelo; and nephew Steven Drgac and children Dakota and Jerian of Raymondville, Texas. Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Benny Jenkins, Tracy Hardy, Cody Nelms, Jacob Wade, Chris Nelms and Lewis Wade. Memorial contributions may be made to Reagan County Care Center in Big Lake, Texas; or Hospice of San Angelo. The family would like to give a special thanks to the caring staff of Reagan County Care Center, nursing staff and CNAs of Reagan County Care Center and Dr. James Williams of Big Lake, Texas.
