Glenda Jean Russell, 87, passed away on April 18, 2026. Born on August 30, 1938, Glenda was born and raised in San Angelo, Texas, a place that remained at the heart of her story and the community she held so dear.
Glenda graduated from Central High School in 1957 and soon began a long and steady career with GTE, where she worked for 32 years. In the seasons of life that followed, she found real contentment in the comforts of home—especially enjoying being home and having her home remodeled—creating a welcoming place that reflected the gentle care she so naturally extended to others.
Glenda’s life was richly shaped by love and family. She met Robert Russell while skating at the local skating rink where her dad worked, a beginning that carried the simple joy and sweetness that marked so much of her life. They were married on December 6, 1957. Together they welcomed their sons, Scott Russell on January 6, 1964, and Kevin Russell on April 23, 1968. Through the years, Glenda remained a deeply cherished presence—steady, kind-hearted, and anchored by a faithful spirit that guided how she lived and how she loved.
Glenda and Bob shared many happy times bowling and square dancing, and she was also very good at slalom waterskiing. Music was another thread woven throughout her life: after retirement she enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines, and she played the piano and electric organ. Even in quiet moments, her life carried a bright, uplifting song—one that friends and family will continue to hear in memory and in heart.
A devoted member of various Churches of Christ, Glenda lived with a faith in Jesus Christ that was not merely spoken, but practiced—seen in her kindness toward others and the warmth she offered so freely. She was also a member of the Lions Club, reflecting her enduring care for the people around her and her desire to stay connected to community. Her favorite hymn was “I’ll Fly Away,” a fitting reflection of the hope that sustained her and the joy she carried.
Glenda was preceded in death by her Father Henry Hudec, mother Eva Mae Hudec, brother Kenneth Hudec, and husband Robert Russell. She is survived by her sons Scott Russell and his daughters Madelynn and Brianna, and Kevin, daughter-in-law Stephanie, and children Emory and Brecker.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Comfort Keepers. Sagecrest took great care of her for the past several years.
