Born July 6, 1920 as Glenna Marie Bradley to James and Dora (Griffin) Bradley in Brady, Texas, she was the third of four children. She grew up in Brady and graduated from Brady High School. She married Paul Jeff (PJ) Bratton May 18, 1941 and they celebrated 64 years together. PJ and Glenna lived in Brady, Waco, and San Antonio before moving to San Angelo in 1952 with their three children. They worshiped as faithful charter members of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Glenna enjoyed children, Bible study, journaling, family and church. She spent much of her time encouraging children to live a good and happy life, which she defined as being honest, responsible and loving at all times. She is remembered as one who eagerly flashed a gracious, beautiful smile with sparkling eyes, but shied away from attention or picture taking. Glenna participated in many groups of study and literature as well as service groups for many years.
Since 2006, Glenna suffered with Alzheimer’s and lived at Sagecrest most of those years. The family is very appreciative of the loving care she received while there. It was comforting for the family to know that her favorite Scripture verse was Romans 8:38-39 paraphrased as ‘Nothing, not even Alzheimer’s, can separate her from the love of God in Christ Jesus’. She was gracious and charming throughout her days and at peace with Christ.
Her parents, her husband and siblings – William Bradley of California, Tommy Ruth Bradley Archer of San Antonio, Evelynn Bradley Hackedorn of Houston- preceded her in death.
Glenna is survived by her three children: Rodney Bratton and wife June of San Angelo, Susan Bratton Will and husband Oscar of Lubbock, and Brad Bratton of San Angelo, 6 grandchildren: Jamie Allen of San Angelo, Carrie Farmer of Garland, Rebecca Tester of League City, Chris Bratton of San Angelo, Ben Bratton of San Angelo and Katie Bratton of San Angelo, as well as 5 great-grandchildren: Tiffany O’Dwyer of San Angelo, Valen Farmer of Garland, Taran Allen of Phoenix, Andrew Farmer of Garland and Elizabeth Bly of San Angelo. PJ and Glenna were also survived by friends of over half a century, Morris and Nettie Ruth Bratton of Georgetown and George and Frances Ricker of Austin.
