

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Tobin, who he married January 22, 1955. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Roger Tobin, sister, Mabel Smith, grandson Scott Keith II, and sister Dorothy Conlon.
He is survived by daughters Carla Whitaker and husband Gary; Beverly Godfrey; and son Craig Tobin and wife Beatriz. He was blessed with 7 grandchildren Aimee Rodocker and husband Jeff; James Keith and wife Kerri; Brad Whitaker and wife Meghann; Matthew Whitaker, Daniel Tobin, Hannah Tobin, and Sarah Tobin; as well as 8 great grandchildren Corinne and Blaize of Lubbock; Chloe, Isaac and Tessa of Belton; Jimmy and Jamie of San Angelo, and Cameron of Splendora, Texas. He is also survived by brother John Tobin and wife Linda of Grand Island, Nebraska; sisters Pat Schnell and husband Paul of Ruthven, Iowa; Priscilla Zauggy and husband Dale of Columbus Junction, Iowa; and Kathleen Tobin of Rockford, Illinois.
Jim served in the U. S. Marine Corp from 1951 to 1953. He worked for many years at Swifts Meat Packing Plant, which brought him to the San Angelo area. He was also employed by Shannon Medical Center. More recently he drove a bus for San Angelo ISD. One memory that the family has is that when we gathered together for holidays and he led us in prayer we always closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
Visitation will be from 6:00 -8:00 PM on Monday, October 18, 2010 at Johnson’s Funeral Home with the funeral at Veribest Methodist Church in Veribest on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 10:30 AM. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
The family will travel to Nebraska for Internment at Doniphan Cemetery in Doniphan, Nebraska with a graveside service and be buried with his wife of 45 years.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be James Keith, Brad Whitaker, Matthew Whitaker, Daniel Tobin, Jimmy Keith and Blaize Whitaker.
