

He spent his early years in Colorado and Oklahoma where his father began his oil career. He spent the rest of his life in West Texas, primarily in San Angelo. After graduating from Sul Ross, he began a career in the oil industry, working for Tucker Drilling, Reed Tool and later starting San Angelo Pipe & Supply. He married his first wife Janette, in 1955 and was married for 25 years until her death. He then married Patricia Walden in 1981 and was married for over 40 years. Jimmy was a lifelong Cowboys fan and loved to watch sports on television, especially the Houston Astros. He also enjoyed a good game of dominos and was a lifelong voter, voting in every election he was eligible for since age 18.
He is survived by Patricia Tucker of San Angelo, TX, his three daughters: Dee Cullum and husband Dell of Hardwick, MA; Tracey Gregory and husband Jamey, of Lubbock, TX; and Catherine Tucker and boyfriend Joe Calvey of Chicago, IL; his three grandsons: Jake and wife Sara, Justin and wife Haylee, and Jaden Gregory and two great-grandchildren: Blake and Lettie. As well as his sister, Sandy Griffin and husband Don and sister-in-law, Nancy Tucker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janette, parents, Walter and Bessie Mae Tucker, and brothers Kenneth, Larry, and Mark and sister-in-laws, Joan and Beth.
There will be a viewing at Johnson’s Funeral Home Sunday, October 1 from 3 - 5pm. A graveside service will be held at 10am on Monday, October 2 at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Quentin Whitsitt Graduate Student Leadership Award in his name.
