

John Ford Oglesby Jr. passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, in a local hospital. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Eldorado Cemetery. Ford was born in Austin, Texas, on Jan. 5, 1925, to J.F. Oglesby Sr. and Mary Colvard Oglesby. Ford attended grade school at Kaffer in western Schleicher County. He attended high school at Texas Military Institute in San Antonio. Ford served in World War II where he was a master sergeant in the 2nd Armored Division in the European Theater. Ford received his GED while attending Tarleton State University and then attended the University of Texas where he graduated with a degree in business. Ford married the love of his life, Norma Rose, in Denver, Colo., in 1953. John worked as a rancher, wool and mohair buyer and for the United States Department of Agriculture. With his busy schedule Ford still managed to serve on the board of directors for Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers and on the board of Mohair Council of America while still being a member of many various other boards. Most of all Ford enjoyed being with his family and friends on hunting and fishing trips. Ford is survived by his wife, Norma J. Oglesby, of Eldorado, Texas; his daughter, Janet D. Oglesby of Eldorado, Texas; his two sons, John F. Oglesby III and wife Elizabeth of Georgetown, Texas, and Scott W. Oglesby of Austin, Texas; four granddaughters, Tara J. Myers and husband Brandon of Texhoma, Okla., Rachel J. Hunley of Denver, Colo., Christina D. Oglesby of Taylor, Texas, Jessica L. Oglesby of Georgetown, Texas, Bayleigh B. Meyers, Texhoma, Okla., and Kynlea N. Myers, Texhoma, Okla.; as well as many other family and friends. The family request donations be made to your favorite charity .
