Johnny Fira

He was born on August 15, 1956 in Crosbyton, Texas, to W. H. and Juanita Fira. He graduated from Crosbyton High School in 1974. He married Linda Cuellar, the love of his life, on January 14, 1978 in San Angelo, Texas. His foremost passion was serving God as the associate pastor and music minister of Primera Church of San Angelo. He retired from Angelo State University after 26 years of service. Another one of his many passions was being a basketball and football official for over 15 years. He was also a member of the Texas Baptist Men and a board member of Faith in Action. He was an avid golfer and had a love for all sports.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years Linda Fira; daughter Kristen Borrego and husband Lino and son Joshua Fira, all of San Angelo; two grandchildren Abigail and Brock Borrego; mother in- law Lydia Cuellar of San Angelo; siblings: Willie Fira Jr. (Alicia) of Crosbyton, TX, Ophelia Cervantes (Joe) of Duncanville, TX, Evila Cervantes (Jesse) of Ennis, TX, Gloria Bryant (Chuck) of Duncanville, TX, Eugene Fira (Adela) of Del Rio, TX, Linda Fira of Duncanville, TX, and Joe Ray Fira (Anna) of Duncanville, TX; two brothers in- law Robert Cuellar (Olga) and Richard Cuellar (Alicia),all of San Angelo, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents W.H. and Juanita and sister, Eliza Guzman.

Prayer service will be held at Primera Church of San Angelo, 23 W Ave J and Irving on Monday August 12, 2013 at 6:30 PM. Funeral service will also be held at Primera Church of San Angelo on Tuesday August 13, 2013 at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Senior Pastor Robert M. Cuellar of Primera Church of San Angelo. Pallbearers will be Lino Borrego Jr., son in law, and nephews Travis Cuellar, JT Thibodeaux, Willie Fira III, Jerry Pena, and Geno Fira. Funeral arrangements conducted by Johnson's Funeral Home.
