With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Joseph, a cherished son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. Joseph left us far too soon, leaving a void in our lives that can never be filled. He passed away unexpectedly at the young age of 41 on Wednesday, July 12th, at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, TX, due to heart failure, a condition that took him from us, but it cannot diminish the impact he had on those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Joseph was born on December 13, 1981, in San Angelo, TX, to Leandro “Junie” Valles Jr. and Celia Muñoz Valles. He attended San Angelo Central High School and was a graduate in the Class of 2000. He lived in San Angelo, TX with a short move to Denver, CO, but lived his remaining years in his hometown.
Joseph was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leandro Valles Sr. and Maria “Chuya” Valles; maternal grandmother, Micaela “Kela” Torres Muñoz; and uncles, Richard Valles and Daniel Torres Muñoz.
Joseph is survived by his loving parents, Leandro Valles Jr. and Celia Muñoz Valles of San Angelo, TX; maternal grandfather, Chon Olvera Muñoz, of San Angelo, TX; his beloved cat, Trixie; brother, Albert Valles, and sister-in-law, Erica Valles, of San Angelo, TX; Robert Valles, of San Angelo, TX; sister, Tammy Ann Ramon, and brother-in-law, Tony Ramon, of Midland, TX; brother, Tomas Valles, and sister-in-law, Margie Valles, of San Angelo, TX; 8 nieces, and 6 nephews; 7 great-nieces, and 9 great-nephews; aunts, Soveida Galvan, and husband, Javier, of San Angelo, TX; the late Richard Valles’s wife, Lynn, of Grape Creek, TX; Dora Ann Muñoz, of San Angelo, TX; uncles, Alex Valles and wife, Linda, of San Angelo, TX; James Valles and wife, Eva, of San Angelo, TX; Rudolph “Rudy” Muñoz and wife, Minerva, of San Angelo, TX; Jose “Joey” Angel Muñoz, and husband, Darin, of San Antonio, TX; and several cousins.
He was a selfless and giving individual, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He possessed a rare and beautiful quality of being willing to give the shirt off his back to those less fortunate. Despite his quiet, shy, and soft-spoken nature, his actions spoke volumes about his character. He never sought the limelight or recognition for his deeds, but his kindness and generosity shone brightly in the lives he touched.
Family was of utmost importance to Joseph. He shared an unbreakable bond with his parents, who he loved deeply and cared for with unwavering devotion. Whenever they needed assistance, he was there, providing support in every way possible. His dedication to his family was a testament to his loving nature and the lengths he would go to ensure their well-being.
Though Joseph did not have children of his own, he embraced his role as an uncle wholeheartedly. He adored his nieces and nephews, spoiling them with love, affection, and presents. His presence in their lives brought joy and laughter, creating cherished memories that will forever be treasured. His selflessness extended to the younger members of the family, leaving a memorable mark on their hearts.
To his friends, Joseph was a steadfast companion, a pillar of support, and a confidant. Despite his quiet demeanor, he possessed an innate ability to listen and offer wise advice when needed. His friendship was a gift, and those fortunate enough to have called him a friend experienced a rare bond of loyalty and understanding.
Movies held a special place in Joseph’s heart, and he found joy in discovering hidden gems within the world of cinema. He had an appreciation for the works of Alfred Hitchcock, Guy Ritchie, Stephen King, and countless other talented storytellers. He reveled in sharing these treasures with those he believed would also find delight in them, especially his dad. His passion for unearthing hidden gems extended beyond movies to music, comics, athletes, and more, always eager to introduce others to the wonders to be discovered.
Joseph had a discerning taste and was unafraid to voice his opinions. While he found enjoyment in many forms of entertainment, he was not afraid to challenge popular opinions. He held a distaste for movies that seemed to captivate the masses, such as the Fast & Furious and Transformers franchises. His unique perspective added depth to his conversations and made his insights even more valuable.
Sports were another source of enjoyment for Joseph, and he would avidly watch various competitions, with football, basketball, and soccer holding a special place in his heart. He admired the skill and dedication of athletes, finding inspiration in their achievements. He also had a keen interest in the world of professional gaming, attending live competitions and following the journeys of talented gamers.
And who could forget Joseph’s beloved companion, Trixie, his feline friend who brought him endless comfort and companionship. Their bond reflected his gentle nature, offering unconditional love and providing solace during both the brightest and darkest of days.
